To kick off the start of summer, I decided it was time to start up with outdoor shots again! I received the lovely Shiozaki Haruno by Kotobukiya in the mail the other day and thought she was the perfect figure to do an outdoor shoot with.

This figure was a last minute impulse buy, but I’m definitely not disappointed! She’s incredibly cute

Her bike is also very detailed

Thought she was eating apples at first, but upon closer look it looks like she’s eating tomatoes ^^.

This figure just fits so perfectly outdoors!

Now that the weather is consistently warm I’m looking forward to being able to do more outdoor photo shoots. Hopefully I can find time to do more of them as they are a lot of fun and the results are usually satisfying.

At last my Ultimate Madoka nendoroid arrived! She’s a really beautiful nendoroid, probably the nicest one that I own to date. took a few photos of her which I’ll share

Used my computer monitor for the background of the photos, turned out really nice I think ^^. The thing to keep in mind if your shooting in front of something back lit like a monitor is to keep the brightness down. Otherwise the light from the background will overpower what’s in the foreground.

It’s been a while since I’ve shared pictures of my desk, which has changed quite a lot in the past months. I think it’s time for an update!

This is was taken a long time ago, what my desk looked like when I first got the glass tabletop.

And this is what it looks like now! Quite a few changes, mostly the addition of the sound system but also a few other things. Got a new stand for the MBP which works really well with the monitor.

I now use the shelf above my desk for my nendoroid petits + some of my PVC figures. I think it looks better than just having random stuff on it.

Kurisutina keeps me company on my desk.

Next to my desk I have these shelves which hold my figures and my small manga & anime collection. Someday I’d love to get some sort of glass enclosure where I can store all my figures and maybe add some lighting. A glass display would be great as it can be a pain to dust off all the figures + shelves.

Closer look at the top shelf. Need to find some sort of risers for the figmas in the back so they’re more visible. Can you recommend any acrylic risers that would be good for figures?

Panorama of my desk corner. Right now this is probably the best layout for the desk, but I’m sure I’ll end up changing it as it’s always fun to re-arrange furniture to give the room a new feel.

At last! Finally got around to taking pictures of Nendoroid Asuna from Sword Art Online. I think it was definitely worth the wait as I really like how these pictures turned out. Hopefully you will too!

Anyway, let’s start the review! Here’s Asuna in her box…

Here is everything Asuna comes with. She has two swords, two sheaths, two additional faces, 4 extra arms, plus a panel featuring the game UI from Sword Art Online.

The did a nice job recreating her outfit, nice details here.

The panel is held up by its own stand which fits into any of the pegs on her base.

That about sums up this review. I have to say this is a really nicely done nendoroid, GSC did a nice job making Asuna nendoroid-sized. Whether you like SAO or not I would definitely recommend picking this one up while you can!

As an extra, as you noticed the opening pic I have for this post is a bit more detailed than usual ^^. Somehow I guess I got inspired and decided to make it look like Asuna is in Sword Art Online by adding the UI elements from the Anime. I have to say I’m really happy with the results! Just arrived today, we have a Akiho Senomiya from the game / anime Robotics;notes! Will do the usual review of her.

And here is everything Akiho comes with. She has two other faces, another pair of legs, arms, glasses, and also her hobby robot the Tanegashi Machine.

Very cute! This is Akiho right out of the box.

This face & arms combo gives Aki a very ‘disappointed’ sort of look.

Guess the robot didn’t preform too well ^^.

Also included with Akiho are these cardboard nendoroid stand covers with the 5pd.Games Science&Adventure logo on them.

Another cool feature of this nendoroid is the AR app feature, which works like in the anime where you can change Akiho’s look using your iPhone/iPad.

The app is called 居る夫 N. and can be downloaded from the itunes store here:

Here is what the app looks when you open it. It instantly recognized Akiho and put this nice frilly dress on her.

The bottom left button allows you to change the position/size of her dress to better fit her. The top slider changes the size of the dress, the left circle allows you to change the position, and the right circle lets you rotate her clothes.

The center button takes the picture which is pretty self explanatory.

If you tap the bottom right button (メニュー) it brings up this menu. This allows you to change her outfit, see other photos on twitter, and go to the goodsmile site.

This the screen where you can change her outfit. Slide the panels the switch up her outfit. You can see they already have in frau’s clothes for when she is released.

The twitter feature allows you to see tweets with the hashtag #robonendoro . You can see a pic that I uploaded as well as other people’s pictures. Not sure what the button on the top right does as anytime I try to use it the app freezes.

Nice cat tail ^^. Very cute app, be sure to download it if you’re iPhone/iPad if you’ve purchased nendoroid Senomiya!

A while back in my random figure photos 2 post I shared a pic of my jailbroken iPhone with a custom (made by yours truly ^^;) Evangelion themed wallpaper.

Figured I might as well share my creation with the rest of the world as there is no point in keeping things to myself ^^. Below are some PNG files for iPhone 4 which you can use for your lock/home screen:

if you’re interested in how I got rid of the clock & slide to unlock on my iPhone 4 I used Androidlock XT to get rid of the slide to unlock and Clock Hide to get rid of the clock. Definitely gives it a cool look!

I’ve also modified the above designs for the iPhone 5 incase any iPhone 5 users are interested. I don’t own an iPhone 5 and the original designs were for iPhone 4 so they might not look as cool but I did my best ^^;

I’ve been wanting to do posts like this every month or so but never really got around to it ^^. Today we take a look at mostly a bunch of random figure photos taken over the past few months. We start off with Miku Append, I don’t I’ve ever uploaded any pictures of her. Definitely a nice nendoroid.

I dropped my Nendoroid Luka Cheerful Ver. the other day and chipped her hair T_T. It’s pretty noticeable, really sad it happened but there’s nothing I can do about it now.

Was really happy to get my Makise Kurisu nendoroid!

… and this Kurisu prize figure. Not a huge fan of this one but since it’s of Kurisutina I had to get it.

Another prize figure I picked up is this lovely Popura, which I think is pretty nice for a cheap prize figure.

Another nendoroid that never gets any love, but still a really nice nendoroid none the less. I should definitely include saber in future photos.

Akari’s bun attack is very versatile.

I’m starting to run out of space to display all my figures. I cleaned off this shelf above my desk to accommodate the overflow. Right now it’s getting filled up with nendoroid petits.

Spending time to dust off all the figures. Usually what I do is take all of them off the shelves, dust off the shelf, dust off the figure, then put everything back. I have to do this in shifts as not all my figures fit on my desk anymore.

I decided to jailbreak my iPhone not too long ago, and wanted to make it look unique. I designed this Evangelion inspired home screen which I thought turned out pretty cool. Would love to have a whole OS that looked all NERV-like but I don’t know how to do that. I’ll probably upload this home screen image sometime in the near future once I’m done making tweaks to it.

Ahoy! Today we look at the Nendoroid form of the captain of the Bentenmaru, Kato Marika from the series Bodacious Space Pirates (モーレツ 宇宙海賊, Mōretsu Pairētsu). I’ve been wanting to review her for a while now, and finally got around to it!

Here she is in her box, looking very space-like.

Here’s all her accessories. She comes with:

-Three Faces
-Six extra arms
-A sheathed sword, along with separate sword and sheath.
-Beam Gun
-Two capes

Here she is right out of the box! Looks just like she does in the series, just in nendoroid form.

Her stand is magnetic, meaning there’s no need to have to fiddle around trying to get a peg into her back. The magnet is very strong, and is able to support the whole figure. I notice some of the newer nendoroids have this feature, and I find it to be much better than having the standard peg. Might limit posing ability though.

Up close look at her uniform, which is really nicely done. You can see there a hole in the side, which is where you can attach her sword.

As mentioned above, she comes with a separate sword & sheath, along with a fully sheathed sword that she can keep at her side.

Time for some piracy!

Her hat is fully removable, which actually looks really nice.

You can have her hold her sword, which looks pretty cool!

Her other cape she comes with allows you to do this pose, with her holding her cape out like so.

This is a really nice nendoroid. I love all the detail the put into her, she looks even better in nendoroid from than she looked in the series! Definitely a must have if you are a fan of Space Pirates.

I’ve been meaning to review this figure for a while now, had her sitting in her box for a while ^^. But at last here she is, the lovely Nendoroid Princess of the Crystal (Could also be known as Himari Takakura) from the series Mawaru Penguindrum.

Here she is in the box.

She comes with:
-Three different faces
-Additional Dress
-Five extra arms, plus extra leg
-Her three penguins from the series
-Two sets of additional armbands

Here she is right out of the box. One thing I like right off the bat is that she can stand by herself without the need for a stand. I love when nendoroids have this capability.

She also has  her penguin hat, which just sits on top of head meaning it’s easily removed (Although be warned, her hat is what gives her power!)

Dress still looks good, even from the back.

A closeup of her dress. Very nicely done! Note though the white armbands she comes with are a bit loose, and can fall off easily.

One nice thing is that she comes with the three blue penguins from the series. Very cute!

Here is her other pose, and my personal favorite! For this one you use the other dress she comes with. Again, she is able to stand on her own if you poser her right with this dress, but it’s also recommend you use her stand for this pose.

Survival Strategy!

With the help of her stand, you can have her stand on top of the penguins.

It can be a bit tricky to get her stand just right ^^;

Happy New Year everyone! To kick off 2013 we will look at Nendoroid Nano Shinonome. After getting nendoroid Hakase I simply had to buy Nano as they go so well together.

This is what it looks like when you use the stand with her key. Also note that having the key vertical like I have it in this picture isn’t ideal as you need to tilt her head down for the key to fit due to her hair.

You’ll probably want to have her key like this when displaying Nano.

 

One of her attachments is her Machine Gun hand, just like in the series.

Another is her shark hand, created by Hakase due to her obsession with sharks.

Very nicely done.

Her third hand is the chikuwa

And her final hand is the Roll Cake, which goes really well with nendoroid Hakase as Hakase also comes with roll cake. With the two nendoroids you can easily recreate scenes from Nichijou!

Here is a look at her sitting pose, she comes with two other arms that allow you to make her look like she is sitting.

While it is possible to get her to sit without the aid of her stand, due to her large nendoroid head she can be a bit top heavy and fall over easily.

One final pose you can do is this adorable running pose. So cute!

That sums it up for this review. This nendoroid is so adorable, if you are a fan nichijou then she should definitely be on your get list!
